Adapted from Diderot's novel, THE NUN tells the story of Suzanne (Pauline Etienne) a young woman born into a bourgeois family, who is sent to a convent against her wishes, to become a nun. After taking comfort in the protection of her kindly Mother Superior, Suzanne suffers brutally at the hands of her sadistic successor, Sister Christine (Louise Bourgoin). Events are complicate further at her next convent, where her new Mother Superior (Isabelle Huppert) offers a very different kind of comfort.
