Mike Newell (HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE) adapts Charles Dickens with this BBC Films production, once again chronicling an orphan, Pip (Jeremy Irvine) who learns he has an unknown benefactor and sets off to London with GREAT EXPECTATIONS'. He soon discovers that he has been chosen by his Uncle under the orders of a wealthy spinster, Miss Havisham, to be a companion to her daughter Estella. Pip falls in love with Estella and his life gets more and more complicated from that point. Helena Bonham Carter co-stars as the tragic Miss Havisham.
